OUR PROGRAM

Our club produces two programs per year - June - December and January - May

We are always looking for new things to add to our program if you have any ideas please let us know and we will endeavor to have them included in the future.

You can download the current program, however members will be advised of any last minute changes here and on the facebook page

Orange Photography Club “Annual Awards Night”.

Prints will be on display and digital images will be projected. Bring food to share for supper.

Speaker: Helmut Berndt
Helmut will do a presentation on light painting for small subjects such as fungi and small objects so members can prepare for the workshop on 19th August

19th August 2025

Workshop: “Still Life and Light Painting”

Bring camera, tripod, small items suitable for light painting (ornaments, flowers, jewellery, models, etc), small torch or LED light, background (fabric, cardboard). We’ll have a number of Still Life sets for members to photograph using light painting techniques. The meeting room lights will be off to facilitate the long exposures required for light painting..

2nd September 2025

Speaker: : Dr Colin Bower 
"Colin will describe the role of photography in plant science and how it helped in the discovery of a new species of Bluebell endemic to Gaanha-bula Mt Canobolas, bringing the number of endemic species on the mountain to eleven."

Members Night:  Bring up to 4 images (digital or prints) for critique. These are to be presented as a portfolio on a specific theme of your choosing.

This will be followed by Q&A and discussion.

Make use of the extensive photographic experience among our members to answer those tricky questions you have

7th October 2025

Members Night:  Sebastien Comte will be briefing us about our second “Photo Marathon” activity, after the overwhelming success of the one we held in 2024

Tania, Diane, Roxanne and John O. will speak about entering outside competitions. This will be followed by Q&A and discussion

Excursion: Spring Wildflowers and Waterfalls

If you're a little late, don't worry, just start walking down the signposted track towards the Falls and you'll find Helmut and the crew along the way.

 

Bring a tripod if you plan to photograph the falls and a macro lens if you plan to photograph orchids and wildflowers.

Excursion:  Millthorpe Meander" – Meet for Dinner at 6pm at the Millthorpe Hotel (also known as the Railway Hotel or bottom pub), followed by street photography during Blue Hour and after dark. Arrive early for Golden Hour light.

Excursion: Photography Marathon

Time and location to be determined by the organizer, Sebastien Comte (0477755212; comte.seb@gmail.com). Participants will be given written instructions on arrival. Photography equipment: all equipment is authorized. Photos to be submitted by: Friday, 7th November by email to comte.seb@gmail.com  Only one photo per theme, total three photos per participant.
